Writing with ADHD can be both exhilarating and exasperating.
Our brains are uniquely wired for creativity, but we often experience barriers that others don’t understand. Writers with ADHD may end up feeling frustrated and alone when working toward getting their words out into the world.
That’s why we created ADHD Writers—a space for differently wired writers to learn, connect, and grow their craft. We hope you will join us as we grow this community!
About Us
We are Jesse J. Anderson and Meredith Carder, two published authors of books on adult ADHD. Jesse took the self-publishing route with Extra Focus: The Quick Start Guide to Adult ADHD and has sold an astonishing 20,000+ copies of his book in a little over a year. Meredith followed a more traditional publishing path, and released It All Makes Sense Now: Embrace Your ADHD Brain to Live a Creative and Colorful Life, with Hay House in August 2024.
We believe our varied experiences with writing and publishing will bring a unique blend of independent grit and industry insight to this page.
Our hope is that ADHD Writers can be a space for all types of writers to get support with the ADHD symptoms that impact their craft, so that they can utilize the strengths that come with their unique brain wiring. We also want to help you answer all those publishing questions that you have no one else to ask.
What we’ll be covering:
Our takes on the pros and cons (and everything in between) of self-publishing vs. traditional publishing for ADHDers.
Honest conversations about ADHD and how common struggles like RSD, perfectionism, task initiation, motivation, and burnout impact our writing goals.
Practical advice on topics like crafting an outline, validating an idea, building a platform, working with an editor, organization, and writing a book proposal.
Much more!
But the support goes beyond just the newsletter.

This sounds like exactly what I need!
Topic idea: when you, the freelance writer, are the one expanding the scope of the project. Because of executive dysfunction, you don't know when to stop researching.
Woot! Timing is perfect - as I'm working on my book in 2025!! Thank you for putting this together!
